Martial arts champ with dyslexia to speak at Bellingham High School

Martial arts champion Scott Sonnon will speak at Bellingham High School at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 about overcoming challenges associated with dyslexia.

The free event is put on by Decoding Dyslexia WA, in cooperation with the Bellingham High School PTSA and the Washington branch of the International Dyslexia Association. It will be a town-hall style interactive presentation that details how to embrace dyslexic struggles and see them as strengths. The event is open to the public and will be held in Bellingham High School’s theater, 2020 Cornwall Ave.

Sonnon, who has dyslexia, is a five-time world martial arts champion, author, TEDx Bellingham presenter and fitness coach.
