Collect and learn about mushrooms on a hike with Western Washington University expert

Find and collect mushrooms along Lake Whatcom with a Western Washington University mycologist and lichen expert during a family walk with the local educational group Wild Whatcom.

Fungus Among Us is 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 5, along the Ken Hertz Trail, also known as the North Lake Whatcom Trail. Trailhead is at the east end of North Shore Road. There is free parking and pit toilets.

Cost is $10 a person. Dress for the weather and bring a snack, water and a basket for collecting mushrooms.
