Tour will highlight businesses helping protect Whatcom Creek

A downtown tour Friday, Sept. 26, will highlight businesses that are helping to protect Whatcom Creek.

Many local businesses have volunteered to help the city with its Downtown Improvement Gardens project by becoming stewards of the gardens.

The Downtown Steward Safari starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Sustainable Connections office, 1710 Ellis St., and strolls to Aslan Brewery for a tour and taco, the Bellingham Public Market for samples from the Electric Beet Juice Co., to Chuckanut Builders for a sample of Ralf’s Bavarian Pretzels, to Bell Tower Studios for some Mallard Ice Cream and finally to Ciao Thyme for food samples.

The $5 tour cost per person, payable at the door, includes five food samples. Children 12 and under are free. People planning to attend are asked to RSVP to to rose@sconnect.org or 360-647-7093, ext. 107, to secure a spot as space is limited. The tour is expected to take about 1 1/2 hours.
