A single-engine Cessna had a hard landing on the runway at Bellingham International Airport Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21, damaging the front landing gear, but the pilot walked away with only minor injuries.
The runway was closed for about an hour after the crash, which happened shortly after 2 p.m., so the damaged plane could be removed. Some flights were delayed, said Marie Duckworth with the Port of Bellingham, which operates the airport.
The pilot apparently was making one of his first solo flights. No one else was aboard.
