People will join together to walk 2 1/2 miles Saturday, Sept. 20, in the annual Walk to Defeat ALS.
People still can register for the walk, which starts at 10 a.m. at Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Point Park. Check-in starts at 9 a.m.
The walk, sponsored by the ALS Association, raises money for local care services and research.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
