The state has given the green light to a major lane closure on northbound Interstate 5 next week.
The state Department of Transportation will close 12 miles of northbound I-5 between Burlington and Lake Samish. That could mean delays of up to an hour for drivers, so officials are recommending taking Chuckanut Drive or Old Highway 99 instead.
The first closure will occur starting just before midnight on Sunday, and it’ll last through noon on Monday. Then, it’ll be open for about seven hours. Starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, crews will again close a lane in that stretch. That closure will last until 10 a.m. on Friday.
