A new film about Bellingham Shipyards will be shown Thursday, Jan. 8, at Whatcom Museum.
Todd Warger recently completed "Wooden Ships & Fiberglass Boats: A.W. Talbot and the Bellingham Shipyards, 1941-1963." The 7:30 p.m. showing is part of the monthly meeting of the Whatcom County Historical Society. The public is welcome.
Arch Talbot owned and ran the business that became the largest, privately owned wooden-boat shipyard in the country. The operation won numerous awards for its quick, quality work building 110 military vessels during World War II, and later introduced the boating public to fiberglass pleasure crafts.
