Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro won the Golden Ladle best in show award during the Northwest Youth Services’ fourth annual Soup for Shelter competition, which raised more than $10,000 on April 29 at Depot Market Square and Boundary Bay’s beer garden.
The money raised will be used to provide housing and support services for disadvantaged youth, says David Webster, executive director for Northwest Youth Services.
Boundary Bay won three awards for two of its soups — Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet ’n’ Spicy Red Pepper Chicken — among entries from 28 local restaurants and caterers. Its squash soup won first place in the vegetarian category; its chicken soup won first place for outstanding quality in the poultry category and tied for first place, also in the poultry category, with State Street Depot’s Creamy Chicken Jalapeno.
Other multiple winners include Harborside Bistro and Pastazza.
