A security camera caught a woman allegedly stealing an Amazon package from a porch in the Cornwall Park neighborhood.

Brian Jones said Bellingham Police used the footage to catch the woman Wednesday afternoon within hours of when he reported the incident.

The package contained $34 worth of baby food, Jones said.

The footage showed a woman walking in an alley behind the house on the 2700 block of Broadway Street about 12:30 p.m. She was with a young child.

Five minutes later, she drove up in a light-colored SUV, stepped out of it – this time her coat’s hood covered her head and she wore large sunglasses – and grabbed the package before driving off.

Jones reported the incident to police at 2:35 p.m. and officers were able to return the package to him by 3:30 to 4 p.m., he said.

Jones said he was sharing the videos with The Bellingham Herald to “help prevent these from happening and to showcase the good police work being done in our community.”

Police identified the woman as 26-year-old Bellingham resident Kailee Lashelle Morberg. She was cited for third-degree theft.
