Authorities have arrested a Texas man who was wanted on a felony drug warrant out of Jefferson County, Texas.

Dagan Joshua Becker, a 38-year-old Vidor resident, remained in Whatcom County Jail on Wednesday afternoon on $25,000 bail.

Becker was near Lincoln Park in Blaine on Saturday morning when he was contacted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers because the area is where people have crossed illegally into the U.S., according to Blaine Police Lt. Ryan King said.

The spot was about a block from the U.S.-Canada border. King didn’t know why he was in the area.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesman, citing the Privacy Act, said the agency couldn’t provide information about the incident.

Becker had a misdemeanor warrant for theft. He also was wanted on a felony warrant for possession of controlled substances on March 2017, specifically less than 1 gram of hydromorphone, a narcotic pain reliever, according to Jefferson County court records.

Blaine Police took Becker to Whatcom Jail Saturday night.
