A Pierce County man has been issued a criminal summons in connection with lewd behavior reported Feb. 2 on the Western Washington University campus, officials said.
WWU spokesman Paul Cocke said Monday the summons was issued, but didn’t identify the suspect.
“University Police investigation identified the man, a non-student, who was positively identified. Initial attempts to contact the man by police were unsuccessful. University Police then issued a criminal citation,” Cocke said.
WWU officials issued an alert to students, staff and others by text message and email when the incident was reported shortly after noon Feb. 2.
A witness said he was parked in his car in Lot 12A when the suspect pulled alongside at 12:44 p.m., according to the Western alert.
The suspect “was wearing no pants and was masturbating,” police said at the time of the incident. “The suspect looked up and saw the reporting party, then immediately drove off toward Bill McDonald Parkway.”
Police said the suspect was white, with silver-white hair and possibly blue eyes. He was middle-aged with stubble on his face and was wearing a green zip-up sweater.
He was driving an older-model silver BMW, with a partial Washington state license plate No. of BBS57.
Cocke said that WWU police don’t think the suspect is connected to any of the other incidents of lewd conduct on or near campus that have been reported since mid-summer 2017.
Anyone with information on any of the other cases is asked to call 911 or 360-650-3911.
