A dream come true – Bellingham beer at your doorstep

Boundary Bay Brewery doesn’t want Bellingham residents to ever go beerless, so it has come up with a delivery service – as long as you’re of legal drinking age .

Just like having pizza delivered, Boundary Bay recently started its service where delivery personnel will bring beer cans, bottles and kegs to the customer’s doorstep. With a $15 minimum order, customers ordering online or by phone can designate a time or have beer delivered in around 30 minutes, said Kari Humphreys, Boundary’s delivery leader. The delivery area is basically in the Bellingham city limits. Food options are expected to be added at a later time.

Humphreys said Boundary consulted with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board to have permits and regulations in place. Boundary is requiring each of the delivery drivers to have a Mandatory Alcohol Server Training permit, so they will have the same training as a bartender in terms of checking identifications and making sure only the adults placing the order are getting the beer, she said.

In the past two weeks Boundary has had a soft launch of the delivery service, which has gone smoothly, Humphreys said.

“What’s been fun for us is actually going to people’s houses,” Humphreys said. “They are so happy when they see us.”

About six current Boundary employees will help with the deliveries, which are being done in a 1970s VW bus or a van.

The delivery times run from 11 a.m to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Orders can be done online at bbaybrewery.com/beerdelivery or by calling 360-647-5593.

PLENTY OF RESTAURANT CHANGES AT SWINOMISH CASINO

The Swinomish Casino & Lodge near Anacortes is going through a major makeover, and that includes bringing in several new restaurants.

Fatburger is scheduled to open in December, making it the first of three new restaurants coming to the resort. It will be followed by a yet-to-be announced Asian casual dining option and an eatery called Carver’s Cafe, according to a news release.

Moka Joe Coffee recently had a grand opening for its drive-thru cafe at the Swinomish Tobacco Outlet.

The new restaurants are part of a larger remodel project that includes a redesigned and updated gaming floor. The renovation project should be completely done sometime this spring, said Dallas Widmark, general manager of Swinomish Casino & Lodge.
