A Lynden man was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 5 south of Bellingham, authorities said.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman said the motorcyclist, identified as Kendell W. Vanduisen, 36, died after hitting a guardrail “at a high rate” about 3:40 p.m. near milepost 248, north of the North Lake Samish Drive crossing.
Firefighters were dispatched but Vanduisen was declared dead at the scene within minutes of the crash, Axtman said. No other vehicles were involved, she said.
Northbound lanes were shut down for more than two hours while authorities investigated the crash scene.
