A Bellingham man was arrested Saturday night in connection with a knife fight at a downtown grocery store.

Kevin Patrick Wright, 53, who listed his address as “transient,” was being held Monday in the Whatcom County Jail after his arrest Saturday for first-degree assault with a knife at the Community Food Co-op, 1220 N. Forest St.

Bellingham Police Lt. Danette Beckley said officers responded to a stabbing at the Food Co-op about 7:10 p.m. Saturday and found one person with a small cut to his forehead and a “puncture stab wound” to his left shoulder blade.

“Investigation determined that Wright was the primary aggressor in what became a mutual physical fight when Wright allegedly threatened victim with a knife,” Beckley said.

Beckley said the fight occurred in the restroom.

She said the victim was treated for his injuries at the scene.
