A Whatcom County pharmacy technician is being accused of stealing a muscle relaxant and ingesting it while on the job at a Bellingham pharmacy, the state Department of Health said.
Lacey Lynn Kara was hired to work at the pharmacy around April 3, according to documents from the health department’s Nursing Assistant Program.
She was fired about a week later for diverting Soma, a controlled substance, and admitted to doing so, the state alleged in its charging papers.
Kara, who is being charged with unprofessional conduct, also has a credential to practice as a certified nursing assistant.
She has 20 days from the June 16 charging date to respond to the state.
