Hundreds of runners and walkers turned out with bells on – literally – and winter running gear Saturday for the Jingle Bell Run, a December tradition in Bellingham and elsewhere to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.
The 5-kilometer run/walk and dog trot at Bellingham High School attracted reindeer, elves and ugly Christmas sweaters as many particpants wore-holiday-themed costumes. Organizers hoped to raise $190,000 at this year’s event to help fund better treatments for arthritis, which affects more than 50 million Americans daily.
