Have extra time or ‘gently-used’ furniture? House2Home wants to hear from you

House2Home Network, a virtual furniture bank, is starting its 12 consecutive days of furniture delivery to families who have recently come out of homelessness.

H2H is a program of the Volunteer Center of Whatcom County and the Opportunity Council.

From Friday through Dec. 20, H2H is encouraging Whatcom County residents to volunteer their trucks or ride along to help pick up and deliver the household items and furniture. Most deliveries will not take more than an hour.

“The thing that is really great is the amount that this community comes together,” said Karen Saupe, House2Home Network coordinator. “It’s so great the way that this community donates their time and likes to help people who are less fortunate and in need.”

If you do not have a suitable vehicle or are unavailable during the time of deliveries, H2H will also accept your gently used furniture and kitchen items that you no longer need. Though H2H has delivered 333 items to 140 families and individuals this year, there still are many requests that need to be filled: 13 queen beds, 16 double beds, 14 twin beds and 22 dining sets.
