A community meeting organized by 88.5 KNKX radio, which broadcasts from Seattle and Tacoma, to get feedback from listeners will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Mount Baker Theatre’s Encore Room, 104 N. Commercial St.
KNKX became an independent, community-licensed station after Save KPLU, a successful summer fundraising campaign aimed at purchasing KPLU-FM from Pacific Lutheran University. The station received more than 24,000 donations; more than 18,000 donors contributed to the $7 million goal, reached May 26.
As part of the campaign’s community outreach, staff and volunteers from the station also held informational meetings in Western Washington communities over the summer.
The station is returning to those communities, starting with Bellingham, to meet and thank listeners.
