The Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa has a new CEO.
The Lummi Commercial Company Board of Directors announced that Frank Cornett has accepted the position. He started earlier this month and will officially take over in May after Harlan Oppenheim retires. Oppenheim has been the CEO at the casino for 13 years, overseeing Silver Reef’s opening and six major expansions.
Cornett began his gaming career in Las Vegas during the early 1980s and has worked at a variety of positions over the years, including CEO and general manager in Washington, Nevada and California. Cornett was also an adjunct faculty member at Lummi’s Northwest Indian College from 2009 to 2013, implementing the Tribal Casino & Hospitality Management Program.
According to a news release, Cornett prefers to be out on the casino floor often, interacting with staff and customers. Along with learning from Oppenheim, Cornett plans to work closely with management and Lummi Commercial Company CEO Richard Jefferson to become familiar with all of the operations at Silver Reef.
