Tarp and canvas store moves into Bellingham’s Old Town district
Northwest Tarp & Canvas recently moved into 703 W. Holly St. where it manufactures and sells it products.
It was a home-based business for six years before moving into the 3,200-square-foot space earlier this month, said owner Jim Watt. The store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1.
While the company does plenty of tarp and canvas production for the boating community, Watt said it does a variety of work in other industries, making custom tarps and canvases. The company has five employees; Watt is hoping to add another five in the coming year.
The company also stocks a line of kayak hardware and other marine-related products.
