BELLINGHAM - After more than 10 years in business, a Fairhaven store known for its music and movie collectibles will be closing later this month.
The Archives will begin a going-out-of-business sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 5, offering 50 percent off everything in the store. It sells CDs, records, DVDs, Blu-rays and posters at 1216 Harris Ave. in the Sycamore building in Fairhaven.
A big factor behind the decision to close is the impact online streaming has had on entertainment products, said owner Lynda Colliver. She said they noticed the impact when they took over the business three years ago, but in the past year the online growth has been dramatic.
"We have a small following of loyal customers, but it's not enough," she said. "We've had a lot of fun being here (in Fairhaven) and it'll be sad to close the store."

Colliver said the store has a wide range of vintage products, including music posters. The owners plan on selling everything down to the bare walls, so store fixtures and business equipment also are for sale.
"The store itself looks a bit like a museum," she said.
The last day of business is Sunday, July 27. For details, call the store at 360-715-3233.
