Bellingham gas prices continue to rise, but at a slower pace

Gas prices in Western Washington continue to rise, but at a slower pace that suggests this area is near the spring peak.

The average price for a gallon of gas in the Bellingham metro area was $3.72 on Monday, March 24, according to data from AAA Washington. That's up 4 cents from a week ago and up 26 cents in the past month.

Earlier this month gas prices in Bellingham were jumping around 11 cents a week.

While up for the month, local gas prices are 21 cents lower than a year ago.

Bellingham continues to have the highest gas prices among major Washington metro areas. Seattle has the next highest at $3.69 a gallon. Spokane has the least expensive, at $3.40 a gallon.

Diesel prices have started coming down in Bellingham. The average price for a gallon of diesel on March 24 was $3.99, down 5 cents from a week ago and down 16 cents compared to a year ago.
