Whatcom businesses closed because of weather

Here's a list of business closures as of 2 p.m. Monday Feb. 24, based on Facebook and Twitter posts, as well as a few drive-by observations. I'll continue to update throughout the morning. If you own a business and want to let readers know about your status, send me an email at dave.gallagher@bellinghamherald.com

For the most part, downtown Bellingham businesses are open while conditions are still a bit rough for drivers north of Bellingham, especially around Lynden, Blaine and Sumas.

In Ferndale, the main road through downtown is drive-able but traffic is minimal, said Guy Occhiogrosso of the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce.

"I'd say there are minimal operations happening right now," said Ochhiogrosso, noting that several restaurants and retailers are open, but many professional offices are closed.

Here's a list of business closures, which will be updated:

-- Bay Cafe in Birch Bay is closing at 1 p.m.

-- V's Barbershop at Bakerview Square.

-- Bellingham Baby Company

-- Appel Farms Cheese (but the cows are warm & cozy, according to the Facebook post)

-- Margaret's Window & Gutter Cleaning.

-- Borthwick Jewelry (Ferndale)

-- Find Your Fashion and Find Your Fashion Again (Ferndale)

-- Lynden Skateway cancels some private rental parties.

-- BelleWood Acres (near Lynden).

-- Anytime Fitness not staffed

-- Lynden Chamber of Commerce

-- Grant's Burgers (Ferndale)

-- Launching Success Learning Store (Bellingham)
