A Burlington-based bank plans to move its Bellingham branch just down the block in the Fountain District, and the site already has a drive-up window.
That’s because SaviBank is planning to move into the former Fountain Bistro space at 1910 Broadway, which originally was a KFC restaurant.
AVT Consulting, which is overseeing the remodel, is having a public meeting to talk about the project at 6 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the Bellingham Public Library Lecture Room, 210 Central Ave.
SaviBank, which has six branches in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties, currently has its lone Bellingham branch at 2417 Meridian St., near Cascade Pizza.
“It’s not a lot bigger square footage-wise, but it’s a lot more visibility and will be easier for our customers,” said Mike Cann, SaviBank’s chairman and CEO.
Cann said reconstruction should begin by early fall and hopes the new branch will open in early 2017.
