One of downtown Bellingham’s staple stores is closing.

Bellingham Antique Mall, a locally owned shop full of “antiquities, curiosities, and other treasures,” will close later this month, according to a social media post.

“Well it is with a heavy heart that we make this post. Due to conditions beyond our control we are closing the store this month. We have not fully decided what day will be the last day, but we will keep you up to date through Facebook and Instagram,” the June 5 post states.

“In the meantime we have started to run some sales. We will truly miss being part of the downtown business core. But can no longer afford to keep going,” the post states.

No official closing date has been announced.

“Such sad news .... a big part of downtown history will now be forever changed,” one Facebook user commented on the shop’s post.

The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 1308 Railroad Ave., nextdoor to Cresswell Boggs and across Railroad Ave. from Fiamma Burger in the heart of downtown Bellingham.
