Whatcom Roundup: Restaurants coming; ‘Boomuary’ returns; drive-through taqueria opening
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:
New restaurant proposed in Bellingham
A new restaurant, “Slice N Spice Pizza,” filed for a beer and wine restaurant license at 5305 Northwest Drive, the location of Neighborhood Market and Deli. The license application was filed Jan. 15 and was not approved as of Jan. 17.
New drive-through taqueria
Chispita de Sabor, Suma’s first drive-through taqueria, is planned to open Saturday, Jan. 25, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page. The restaurant previously operated as a food truck but will now operate out of a brick-and-mortar site at 719 Cherry St. in Sumas. The grand opening will run from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 25. Regular operating hours have not been announced.
New Bellingham restaurant makes progress
Bordertown Mexican Grill is making progress toward its new location at 1055 N State St. in Bellingham, the previous location of Pepper Sisters, which closed in December. The restaurant filed for a beer and wine restaurant license Jan. 2. It had not been approved as of Jan. 17. Bordertown Mexican Grill announced its second location back in December.
‘Boomuary’ returns with discounted meals
Boomer’s Drive-In, a classic burgers and fries drive-in restaurant, is celebrating its 36th year in business with its annual “Boomuary” sale. The monthlong sale runs from Jan. 7 through Feb. 28, when all burgers will be discounted to $3.66.
Boomer’s Drive-In is open regularly from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 310 N Samish Way in Bellingham.
