A new real estate company on the waterfront has big goals to reach beyond Whatcom County.
Bellwether Real Estate recently opened at 11 Bellwether Way and already has 14 agents. This includes several that came from other Bellingham offices, with Tim Cornwell as the owner. A complete list of agents can be found at bellwetherrealestate.com.
Cornwell cited several reasons for starting the business, including creating a business that allows agents to be more entrepreneurial, such as investing in property along with helping clients buy or sell. He described the office as a high-energy atmosphere, one where agents tend to make their own business. The firm offers residential, commercial and industrial real estate services.
The agents are grouped into teams, which benefits customers when they need to get something done and the person they were working with isn’t available, said Chris Erdmann, a broker for the company.

The company also works to be a paperless office, focusing on electronic files for needs like offers and counter-offers. Paper does come into play when the deal reaches the title company stage for final document signings.
Bellwether Real Estate currently serves Whatcom and Skagit counties, but Cornwell said the plan is to grow, eventually expanding across the U.S. and into Canada.
