With the Canadian dollar remaining weak, southbound border traffic into Whatcom County continues to fall, according to recent data from Western Washington University's Border Policy Research Institute.
In February, 935,147 passengers used the five border crossings into Whatcom County, the lowest monthly total in more than three years, according to the WWU report.
The number of people crossing southbound in the first two months of the year is 10.6 percent lower compared to the same period in 2014. It's down 14.1 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
