The Horseshoe Café is under new ownership and will be closed while the longtime restaurant undergoes some remodeling.

The ownership change took place on Tuesday, March 31, said Barb Groen, one of the partners in the new ownership group.

She said the remodeling at 113 E. Holly St. will take place over the next few weeks, with a scheduled reopening in May. The ownership group plans to keep the restaurant name and have a similar style to what it was in previous years.

The Horseshoe Café first opened in 1886 and has been a fixture in downtown Bellingham.
