A downtown business is having an anniversary celebration that includes a “Wizard of Oz”-themed party.
The Lucky Monkey at 312 W. Champion St. is having its 10-year anniversary during the Downtown Art Walk, which goes from 6-10 p.m. Friday, April 3. Owner Will Davis said costumes are encouraged, and there will be prizes, games, discounts and refreshments, including a cake-cutting at 8 p.m. The iconic movie also will be playing inside the store.
Other than the flying monkey characters in the movie and the business name, there isn’t much of a tie between the movie and the store, except to say the store itself has a sense of Oz to it, Davis said.
“The real reason for this is to say thank you to the customers,” Davis said.

The store also will participate in the art walk with its own art show, featuring Mexican art brought back from a recent trip.
