Retail Tipsheet: Revamped Best Western Lakeway Inn includes rebranded restaurant

The Best Western Lakeway Inn has been doing some major remodeling for nearly a year, and that includes a new look for its restaurant.

The restaurant near the main lobby is now known as Chinuk and its menu will have plenty of Pacific Northwest cuisine. Menu items include Penn Cove mussels, Draper Valley Farms chicken sandwich and Mallard ice cream. The restaurant also has a new local chef in Douglas Metzger, who helped launch several restaurants at the Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa, according to a company news release.

“We’ll be emphasizing a farm-to-table approach with local and regional produce, seafood and meat that are delicious and healthy,” Metzger said in the news release. “We’ll also be incorporating tribal and Northwest influences into our menus.”

General Manager Larry MacDonald said the restaurant name is a word from the coastal tribes and they chose it to honor this area’s tribal roots.

The multimillion-dollar renovation of the 132-room hotel began last spring and has included the lobby, the indoor pool, the restaurant and Poppe’s 360 Neighborhood Pub. The hotel is planning to finish revamping the guest rooms and expand the fitness area by spring before tackling the meeting spaces. MacDonald said one goal was to emphasize Northwest colors while also providing a series of technology upgrades.
