With the Canadian dollar continuing to weaken, southbound border traffic into Whatcom County continued to slow down in October, according to the most recent data.
The October border traffic is the lowest monthly total since February and is down 7.2 percent compared to October 2013. Year-to-date, the border traffic is down 1.4 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
Traffic at Bellingham International Airport, which relies heavily on Canadian tourists, also continues to lag last year. The November total is down 6 percent compared to November 2013.
