New Bellingham walk-in clinic open on weekends

To meet the growing need for medical care on weekends, Bellingham Primary Care has opened the Bellingham Weekend Walk-in Clinic in the Bellingham Surgery Center, across the street from St. Joseph Hospital on Squalicum Parkway.

"People often can't take time off from work during the week to go to the doctor," said Dr. Mitchell Kahn, medical director of the Bellingham Weekend Walk-in Clinic.

The Bellingham Weekend Walk-in Clinic is open to all patients over age 13 and accepts a variety of insurance programs, including Premera, Regence and Medicare.

The clinic is staffed by experienced board-certified physicians, physician assistants and advanced nurse practioners who can treat a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Kahn noted that the walk-in clinic is not an emergency room and anyone who is critically ill should go immediately to the emergency room.

The clinic is completely computerized and the record of the visit can be emailed or faxed to the patient's primary care provider. The Bellingham Weekend Walk-in Clinic is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 752-3126.
