A longtime fixture in the Fairhaven restaurant scene is going through a change.

Marin Tirado recently purchased the Dos Padres restaurant at 1111 Harris Ave. from James Altman. Tirado, who operates El Agave restaurants in the Bellingham and Sudden Valley, switched to the El Agave menu over Labor Day weekend and will have new signs up in the coming weeks. The hours have also changed to 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.

Dos Padres was established in 1973, making it one of the oldest restaurants in the district.

Tirado said the location was a big factor in making it the third El Agave restaurant in the region. The other locations are at 207 N. Samish Way, which opened in 2011, and 4 Clubhouse Circle, which opened in 2013.

Tirado said he plans to have a grand opening celebration sometime in October.
