Did you lose $550,000 in cocaine and methamphetamine last week north of Ferndale? Or do you know someone who did?
You might want to call Immigration & Customs Enforcement.
A tip led federal agents and Whatcom County sheriff’s deputies to recover 15 kilograms of cocaine (33 pounds) and 9 kilograms of meth (19.8 pounds) around 5 p.m. Sept. 10, from an unoccupied unit at the Grandview Business Center, 7056 Portal Way.
So far no one has been arrested, and agents are trying track down the drugs’ rightful owner. They believe the meth and cocaine were en route Canada, where the street value would be close to double, said ICE spokesman Andrew Muñoz.
