The poll had 13 local plant shops and nursery options in Whatcom County, including Joe’s Gardens, Babygreens and My Garden Nursery.

Garden Spot Nursery received 68 votes, or 26% of the total, to top the list of the best plant store in Whatcom County.
The nursery sells a wide variety of houseplants, fruit trees, conifers, flowers and edible plants such as vegetables and fruit sprouts.
The nursery also holds plant classes and has a blog that covers a variety of plant topics and practices.
The plant store is also popular online, receiving a 4.8-star rating from 145 Google reviews, and a 5-star rating from 18 reviews on Yelp.
Garden Spot Nursery is open year round from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and is at 900 Alabama St. in Bellingham.
In second place was Joe’s Gardens with 51 votes.
Joe’s Gardens opened in 1933 and sells vegetables, herbs, fruit sprouts and flowers and is open during the spring and summer. The nursery’s website also offers growing tips for gardeners.
Joe’s Gardens is also well-loved online, receiving a 4.9-star rating from 171 Google reviews, and a 4.5-star rating from 25 reviews on Yelp.
Joe’s Gardens is open for its 2023 season from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and is at 3110 Taylor Ave. in Bellingham.
My Garden Nursery came in third with 43 votes, followed by Kent’s Garden & Nursery with 35 votes and Vander Giessen Nursery with 28 votes.
