Dorie and John Belisle of Lynden share their recipe for Hot Spiced Brandy as part of Sustainable Connections’ food and farming program, which highlights local foods, farmers and fishers in September as part of Eat Local Month.
The Belisles say the drink is a delicious way to celebrate apples and the art of distilling. The Bellewood Acres farm owners suggest enjoying the drink “on a cold fall day and with good company.”
Their European “Eau de Vie” style apple brandy won a bronze medal in 2013 from the American Distilling Institute.
It has a light apple aroma and flavor and can be used in mixed drinks or as a stand-alone spirit.
