Grinch will read namesake Dr. Seuss story at Village Books in Fairhaven

One of literature’s most lovingly reviled characters comes to life this week as the Grinch arrives for a storytime at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Village Books, 1200 11th St. near Mill Street.

This will be the green-skinned Dr. Seuss character’s only visit this year, said Claire McElroy-Chesson, kids programming director at the Fairhaven independent bookseller. His Grinch-ness will read the classic children’s tale “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and pose for photographs.

“It’s a great photo-op,” McElroy-Chesson said. “It’s tied to our Merry Grinchmas program,” where children are encouraged to do good deeds during the holiday season and claim a small reward. Booklets with ideas for the Grinchmas program will be available at the reading and at Village Books through Dec. 24.
