Dorcas Bernice Shellhammer was born in Lyman WA, March 7, 1921. Daughter, Robyn, and five generations of Shellhamer nieces and nephews will celebrate her 90th year with her on May 29, 2011 at the Riverfront Park on the Skagit River in Sedro Woolley for an all day family birthday party. Friends from the area are invited.Bernice grew up in Lyman and graduated in 1939 from SWHS followed by her marriage December 1945 as a US Marine Womens Corp Pfc to her high school sweetheart Navy Lt. Robert A. Millar. She graduated Western Washington College and has been a teacher and administrator in the Stanwood and Bellingham school districts until her retirement in 1978. She continued her hobby of raising animals and gardens on her Mt. Baker Highway ranch where she still resides with her daughter.
