Dr. William “Bill” Schwartz will celebrate his 95th birthday at an informal reception from 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 8 at The Willows Retirement Apartments (3115 Squalicum Pkwy). He was born Nov. 7, 1914 in Philadelphia, PA. He was married to May (Bernstein) Schwartz for 57 years. A graduate of Temple Univ., he practiced dentistry for 50 years near Philadelphia. During WWII, he was a captain in Gen. Eisenhower’s headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, and was honored by The Chapel of the Four Chaplains. He was appointed by Gov. Gary Locke as the senior member of the Washington Citizens Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. He moved to Bellingham in 1998 to be near his children, Ilene Schwartz and Harvey Schwartz and his wife Colleen. His grandchildren are Jessica Tholfsen, the late Andrew Wolfberg, and Jerome and Devan Schwartz. His great-granddaughter is Claire Freya Tholfsen.
