Carl and Chris Hansen celebrated their 50 years of marriage on August 30, enjoying a hot air balloon ride, accompanied by their daughter, Brenda (Hansen) Little of Renton, son, Brad Hansen and granddaughter, Taylor Hansen of Lake Tapps.
Carl grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon, near Portland, graduating from Milwaukie High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Army for two years. After his discharge from the service, he moved to Yakima where he was introduced to Chris by his sister, Sue Hansen. He is a graduate of Yakima Valley Junior College and the University of Washington with a degree in Industrial Design.
Chris grew up in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High School and Yakima Valley Junior College with an associate degree in Secretarial Science.
The couple were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Yakima by The Reverend Harry G. Brahams. They spent 39 of their years together in Seattle, where he retired from Boeing, and she retired from Alaska Airlines. They spent many weekends building their home at Neptune Beach, which Carl designed, and moved there in June of 1998.
