Miss Marissa Ester Knies and Mr. Robert Harrington Lanier were married on Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Carmel, California. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Richard Matters and took place in the Redwood Grove at the Santa Lucia Preserve. Friends of the couple, Mr. Christopher Ryan Kaspers, of Los Angeles, CA and Mrs. Anne Carter Smith, of Charlotte, NC participated in the ceremony by reading, and Ms. Megan Alissa Hubner, of Bellingham, sang two songs.
Miss Jessica Ellen Knies served as the Bride's Maid of Honor, and the Groom's father, Mr. Robert Fulton Lanier, was the Best Man. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Julia Hartz, Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Rogoway, Miss Kimberly Jane Smith, Miss Joanna Alexandra Isabel Pashby, Miss Robyn Tindall Brooks, Miss Josephine Curran, Miss Sarah Fletcher Halligan, Miss Erin Kimberly Wade, and Dr. Laura Lanier McClung. Groomsmen included Mr. Charles Chancellor Wentworth, Mr. Thomas Kirby Garner, Mr. Kevin Blaine Hutchens, Mr. Christopher Keith Phillips, Jr., Mr. Irving Sears Driscoll, III, Mr. Charles Holt Protell, Mr. Douglas Glenn Donovan, and Mr. Robert Sharp Forster, Jr.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. Robert Montgomery Knies, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Linnea Helen Gerber, of Tiburon, California. She was born in Seattle and grew up in Bellingham, where she attended Happy Valley Elementary, Fairhaven Middle School, and Sehome High School. She graduated from Pepperdine University. The Groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Fulton Lanier of Newport News, Virginia. He attended Hampton Roads Academy and the University of Virginia. The wedding ceremony was followed by a cocktail reception and dinner in the Old Barn at the Santa Lucia Preserve. Following the wedding weekend, the newlyweds took their honeymoon in Morocco and currently reside in Los Angeles, CA.
