John Rhodes Galbraith was born April 11, 1918, in Saxon, WA. He is a grandson of AA Galbraith who homesteaded along the South Fork of the Nooksack River. Rhodes graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1936 and served in the army during WWII. He married Iva Ellison in 1948. They had two daughters; Lois and Don Thorndike (Acme), and Eunice and Paul Wingert (Bellingham).
Rhodes farmed and logged in Acme. He ran bull dozers and other heavy equipment building logging roads for several different companies. Iva passed away in 1997, and in 2003 Rhodes married Shirley Jameson, and they now live in Bellingham.
God has blessed Rhodes with six wonderful grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Rhodes celebrated his birthday with family and friends.
