Birney Cory of Bellingham will celebrate his 100th birthday with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. March 29 at the home of his niece at 540 W. Pole Road in Lynden.
He was born March 29, 1908, in Bellingham. A retired machinist, he was a union member for 50 years and worked building the Golden Gate Bridge.
His wife, Marcella Cory, is deceased. His son is Roger Cory of Burlingon. He has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He enjoys watching Mariners games and John Wayne movies and taking naps. He attributes his longevity to good, clean living, 20 seasons in Alaska and a large, loving family.
