Hardware Science: Make a simple instrument; learn why our ears love the sound of music

This month’s Hardware Science Day gets into some good vibrations by examining how musical instruments create sounds of varying pitch and tonal quality.

Presenters Shawn and Kelly will demonstrate how everyday items of metal, wood, glass or PVC can be assembled into makeshift instruments, and they will explain the science behind their ear-pleasing sounds.

Presentations are at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Ace Hardware in the Sehome Village shopping center, at Samish Way and Bill McDonald Parkway.
