Space remains in several free birding classes for elementary–age children and teens at the Padilla Bay National Estuarine research reserve in the coastal Skagit Valley enclave of Bay View.
“Songbirds for Junior Explorers” age 6-9 is offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, and again at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9.
“Spring Birding by Ear,” for adults and older teens, is 8 a.m. to noon, Sunday, April 12, and again from 8 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 24. Naturalist, Libby Mills leads the program, which includes an easy walk around the reserve uplands. Participants should dress for the weather and bring water and a snack. Binoculars and field guides are available for loan.
Both programs are at the reserve’s Breazeale Interpretive Center, 10441 Bayview-Edison Road. Registration is required at padillabay.gov or by calling 360-428-1558.
