“Regional Stone, Regional Sculptors” opens during the monthly Downtown Art Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 5, at 203 Prospect St., Studio 101.
It’s the inaugural show at Sculpture Northwest’s new gallery, presented by Northwest Stone Sculptors Association.
The juried exhibit features works by 32 artists that include elements of simplicity and high workmanship, counterpointed by some pieces with a raw nature or political point. Much of the work is thoroughly modern with the Asian influence identified with the work of Morris Graves and Mark Toby that was dubbed “Northwest Mysticism.”
Sculpture Northwest presents the exhibit through Aug. 14. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Details: sculpturenorthwest.org, 360-734-9757.
