MUSIC: Tower of Power is hip at Mount Baker Theatre

For close to five decades, Tower of Power has delivered the best in rhythm and blues. Their funky soul with a brass backbone has spawned numerous chart-topping hits, including “What Is Hip?,” “Don’t Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream),” “You’re Still a Young Man,” and “So Very Hard to Go.”

The band performs at 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St.

Over the years, Tower of Power has collaborated with musical powerhouses ranging from Heart to Little Feat to Josh Groban.

The band’s critically acclaimed horn section has become recognized as a formidable ensemble in its own right. The Tower of Power Horns have made an astonishing number of appearances with hundreds of artists as diverse as Aerosmith, Elton John, the Grateful Dead, and Lyle Lovett.
