MUSIC: The Cantrells put a spin on acoustic folk Sunday, May 3, at Nancy’s Farm

The Cantrells, a husband-and-wife duo from Nashville in their 30th year of playing original and traditional folk, swing bluegrass and Celtic tunes, perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Nancy’s Farm, 2030 E. Smith Road.

They feature Emily’s stellar singing and guitar work, and Al’s sparkling mandolin and award-winning fiddling.

Their four CDs are played on National Public Radio; three of them include the talents of Bela Fleck, Tim O’Brien, Jerry Douglas and Riders in the Sky. The Cantrells have appeared on many syndicated radio programs, including Mountain Stage, E-Town, and Folk Sampler, and Robert Redford chose them to play music on screen in his hit movie “A River Runs Through It.”
