Rio Con Brio — the Portland, Ore., duo of Mike Burdette on guitar and Tim Connell on mandolin — plays music from Central and South America at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Nancy’s Farm, 2030 E. Smith Road.
They performs from the esoteric Brazilian repertoire known as choro, the early 20th-century street music of Rio de Janeiro. Influenced by Afro-Brazilian rhythms and the contemporary cafe music of Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, choro is both exotic and familiar, evoking in turn the carnival of Rio and the cafes of Paris.
